What We Do?
We are a new organisation combining the skills and expertise of the former Cumbria Probation Trust and the Lancashire Probation Trust. Our role is to manage and rehabilitate low and medium risk offenders released from short custodial sentences as well as those serving community service orders.
Our services include:
- Managing offenders in the community
- Providing Community Payback (unpaid work) schemes
- Delivering rehabilitation programmes aimed at changing offender behavior
- Conducting restorative justice work where we bring victims and offenders together
Our role is critical to the Government’s Transforming Rehabilitation programme, which aims to reduce reoffending rates. As part of the programme, from 2015 we will provide probation services to all those sentenced to less than 12 months in prison after they are released from their sentence. A ‘through the prison gate’ resettlement service will be provided, so that most offenders are given continuous support by one provider from custody into the community.
We also work closely with the new National Probation Service to ensure integration of services across existing structures, networks and partnerships.
